When feeding the silage the quality can deteriorate fast. If an additive of a correct type has been used the silage will retain quality longer.

To avoid deterioration of the silage it is important to keep the output of the silo fast enough. The silage will get warm otherwise. Bales should be fed within 3-4 days, clamp silos and tubes should be emptied with 15-30 cm / day, from the whole surface and a tower silos should be emptied at least 5 cm / day. Silage additive containing substances that prevent the risk of moulds and yeasts help to maintain a high hygienic quality of opened silos.
