PROFIT = NC * (WL + IMY + RF) + EWH - SA

What is the formula?

Profit = Number of cows * (Weight Loss + Increased Milk Yield + Rejected feed) + Extra Work Hours - Silage additive

The formula describes the profit you get if you treat a crop with Safesil compared with untreated silage.

Weight losses

The dry matter losses are affected by harvest losses and storage losses. Crop losses will increase in dryer crop due to the oxygen consuming nutrients in the crop before it is packed and covered. Storage losses in silage with no additives are more evident at low DM levels. Additive can reduce the storage losses dramatically (blue line). Optimum is located at approximately 35-40% DM content.

Increased milk yield

The use of silage additive has a proven positive effect on milk production and growth.

Rejected feed

To visually discard the part of the silage that can/should not be fed.

Extra working hours

The extra time it takes to sort and discard bad silage, approximately 5 minutes per day, results in a small extra cost.

Silage additive

The only cost in the process is the additive, the cost is dependent on dosage.
